Who regulates trucking companies?

A: If a motor carrier is involved in interstate travel (between states), they're under the jurisdiction of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Intrastate (inside the State of Florida) carriers may not technically have to abide by the Federal regulations but there is significant overlap between Federal regulations and what are industry standards. Florida has a "Florida Motor Carrier Safety Act" which prescribes multiple rules for the safety of the public.

Because violation of any of the rules of the road or the Federal or industry standards can be evidence of negligence, it is important to retain an attorney experienced in truck crash litigation.
