  • Three Injured in West Palm Beach Pedestrian Car Crash
    Jan 29, 2012

Three people were taken to the hospital after a pedestrian-car accident on I-95 in West Palm Beach.
The West Palm Beach pedestrian car crash occurred on Tuesday, January 17 around 2:00 p.m. A man driving a red Ford Explorer exited I-95 North and drove onto the median that separates eastbound and westbound 45th Street. The SUV hit a young man who was standing on the median. A second man standing next to the victim was able to jump out of the way. The vehicle then flipped and landed on its side in front of the Days Inn at 2300 45th Street.
The man who was hit by the vehicle sustained serious injuries. The driver, a man in his thirties, exited the SUV and attempted to flee the scene. He was tackled and restrained by the second man at the median. Both men suffered minor injuries. All three were taken to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment.
The Florida pedestrian accident is still under investigation. Police say the driver will probably be charged with hit-and-run leaving the scene of an accident. They suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but no additional charges will be filed until blood test results are obtained.
The northbound exit ramp off of I-95 for 45th Street and the eastbound lanes of 45th Street were closed for almost an hour as emergency crews cleared the wreckage.
West Palm Beach accident injury attorney David Glatthorn wishes the victim a quick recovery.

  • Man From Davies Dies in Boynton Beach Tire Blowout Crash
    Jan 27, 2012

A Davie man is dead after an accident on southbound Interstate 95 in Boynton Beach.
The Florida highway accident occurred on Saturday, January 7 around 2:30 p.m. Forty-year-old Daniel Cohen was driving south of Woolbright Road when a tire blew out on his 1987 Chevrolet van. Cohen swerved onto the shoulder of the highway where his van overturned. Cohen was ejected from the vehicle. He died from his injuries at Delray Medical Center.
Accidents like this Boynton Beach tire blowout crash are more common than you may believe. Tire blowout accidents kill about 400 people each year. Many of these crashes occur in southern states like Florida, where hot roads cause tires to wear out more quickly.
In many cases, Florida tire-blowout crashes are caused by defective tires. The fatal Boynton Beach tire blowout crash is still under investigation.
You can avoid becoming a victim of a Florida tire blowout accident by inspecting your tires once a month. Check the air pressure on each tire. Make sure that your tires have enough tread, and that there are no unusual bulges or cracks. Don’t drive if there are signs of tire damage.
If your tire blows out while you are driving, keep your speed constant. Braking suddenly could cause your car to lose traction. If the tire pulls you in one direction, gently counter-steer in the opposite direction in order to stay in your lane. Once the car stabilizes, start to slow down gradually. Pull over to the side of the road and call for help.

Unfortunately, they never reached their destination. The three travelers lost their lives when their car crashed on I-95 in Jupiter.

All three Florida accident victims were alive but in cardiac arrest when emergency personnel arrived at the scene. Ms. Lane and Mr. Koeniges were taken to St. Mary's Medical Center. Ms. Brunetti was taken to Jupiter Medical Center. All three died from their injuries.
Mr. Koeniges was a volunteer firefighter in Haworth, NJ. Ms. Lane had worked in airport operations in Newark, NJ. Ms. Brunetti was a receptionist in a doctor's office. The sisters are survived by their children, grandchildren and two remaining sisters.
When the car was pulled from the drainage pond, the vehicle's right front tire was not attached to the front axle. It is not known whether a problem with the tire is responsible for the accident. The fatal Jupiter car crash remains under investigation.

  • West Palm Beach Accident Lawyer Holds Bars Accountable for DUI Death
    Dec 21, 2011

Andrea Serratore was married for 43 years. Her marriage ended on Saturday, July 11th, 2009, the day her husband was hit by a drunk driver in Boynton Beach. It was 4:30 in the afternoon.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Southern Boulevard and Lamstein Lane. John Serratore stopped for a red light, and when it turned green, he pulled into the intersection. A drunk driver t-boned his car. Mr. Serratore sustained fatal injuries and died at the hospital.
Tracy Klinedinst, the driver who hit Mr. Serratore, had been drinking since 7:30 that morning. He jumped out of his van and ran from the scene. He was later arrested on charges of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, failure to stop after a crash involving death, and cocaine possession. In February, Klinedinst plead guilty to DUI manslaughter and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
West Palm Beach accident lawyer David Glatthorn believes that the bars who served Klinedinst should also be liable for the accident. Many states have a dram shop law that allows bars to be held liable for serving patrons who become intoxicated and cause injury. Florida does not have such a law, but there is one exception - bars can be held liable if they knowingly serve a habitual drinker.
Attorney David Glatthorn has filed a lawsuit against the three bars that served Klinedinst on the day of the accident. Klinedinst was a regular at all three bars and had known one of the bartenders for more than fifteen years.
